《恋爱中的女人》深刻反映了工业文明压迫下人性异化的社会现状,可算是劳伦斯的巅峰之作。小说再次强调了性爱和社会批判的主题,作者提出理想的两性关系——“星际平衡”原则,以拯救机器文明压迫下堕落的人类灵魂。在该部作品中,虽然大量象征与意象等现代写作手法的频繁使用让小说看似结构松散凌乱而难以解读,但其中人物间的对话将看似松散的叙事结构有机地联系起来。本文将讨论的是《恋爱中的女人》的对话结构,以说明劳伦斯如何更有效地传达其性爱和社会批评的主题。
“Women in Love” profoundly reflects the social status quo under the oppression of humanity in the industrial civilization and can be regarded as the pinnacle of Lawrence. The novel once again emphasizes the theme of sexuality and social criticism. The author proposes the ideal relationship between the sexes - the principle of “interstellar balance” to save the degraded human soul under the oppression of machine civilization. Although the frequent use of modern writing techniques, such as a great deal of symbolism and image, makes the novel appear to be loosely and messy and difficult to interpret, the inter-character dialogue organically links the seemingly loose narrative structure. This article will discuss the dialogue structure of “Women in Love” to illustrate how Lawrence can more effectively communicate the themes of her sexuality and social criticism.
