恩施地区位于北纬29°5′—31°5′,地处杉木中心产区的北缘。气候条件属亚热带湿润——水分充足气候区。植物资源丰富,盛产杉木。是全国杉木重点商品林业基地之一,也是湖北省杉木的主要产区。
