3月3日,广东省外经贸委及海关、国税、外管的有关人士与广东外商投资企业的代表,又一次相会在风景秀丽的麓湖畔。广东省外商投资局局长、广东省外经贸委副主任黄志炜向外商代表介绍了广东当前的经济形势及国家的有关政策。广东有关部门的代表分别作了专题发言并接受咨询。黄志炜介绍说,1998年,广东经济继续保持比较高的增长速度,全年国内生产总值达7937亿元,比上年增长10.1%;固定资产投资2594亿元,比上年增长12.9%;外贸出口在卖价下跌近一成的情况下仍然增长了1.6%,全年出口达757亿美元;实际利用外资152亿美元,比上年增长5.6%,其中外商直接投资120亿美元;金融形势稳定,人民币汇率保持稳定,全省存贷款余额比上年分别增加2068亿元和1300亿元;市场销售仍保持畅旺,全年社会消费品零售总额3249亿元,比上年增长11.3%,物价持续稳定。从以上统计数字可以看出,广东省的经济仍然充满活力和良好发展势头。当然,经济运行中也还存在一些问题。1999年广东省经济工作可以说机遇与
