Correct interpretation of the Holter monitor must identify a variety of possible misleading artifacts. Such artifacts range from easily identifiable technical faults to intricate patterns that may resemble arrhythmias, including “pseudo” atrial fibrillation, “pseudo” ventricular tachycardia, and “false” atrioventricular block. While many artifacts can often cause misdiagnosis, some noncardiac waveforms occasionally reflect true heart beat abnormalities.
