In the past two years, the situation in the Taiwan Strait has obviously eased and cross-Strait relations have shown a brand-new pattern of great exchange, big development and great cooperation. However, Taiwan authorities and the military still regard the “mainland military threat” as the most serious challenge and pay close attention to developments in the military affairs of the mainland.
