The application of ~ (15) N technology by the International Microbiological Institute of Soil Microbiology has carried out the following studies: (1) detecting the fixation of nitrogen; (2) tracking the fate of fixed nitrogen by nitrogen fixation; and (3) estimating the amount of nitrogen. 1. Nitrogen fixation with ~ (15) N 2 (1) Soil samples: Effects of light and organic matter on nitrogen fixation in flooded soils were studied in the laboratory. In 1968, the potted soil was placed in a tube enriched in ~ (15) N atmosphere and the photosynthetic nitrogen fixation effect was estimated after one month incubation. The results showed that photosynthetic nitrogen fixation predominated, nitrogen addition significantly reduced the amount of nitrogen fixation.
