Geostatistical reservoir characterization techniques are expected to increase the economic benefits of oil and gas production through integrated seismic, petrophysical and geotechnical techniques. However, these methods are concealed by some mysterious jargon, and geostatistics is often confined to a few experts. In fact, the geostatistical approach is fairly simple and easy to grasp. However, these new technological methods are only supplements of geophysics, geology and reservoir engineering, and can not replace the correct practice of the above disciplines.
