English teaching in primary schools must provide students with sufficient English for effective use of the opportunity to practice, so that students can deepen understanding and familiar with the use of a firm grasp, to achieve the purpose of learning.
  Introduction
TPR, a concept in language learning, was conceived by a psychologist in the late 1960s. Total Physical Response is modeled after how we learn our mother tongue. During the first years of language acquisition, the child simply listen to teacher’s speech .As speech patterns become more familiar, a child can gradually repeat or respond with simple words or patterns that will eventually develop into a speech. Thus method is widely used in teaching English in primary school.
Now I would like to say something about my teaching with TPR.
  Body
  1. Group work between class.
At first, I would divide the whole class into three or four groups before the class began. There will be a match among them, Which group do it better during the class, I will give a score .After the class, the highest score group will get rewards. This may be called group work . Students in their own group have a clear distinction between in-group and out-group, when one student in their member answers question, they pay more attention to it, sometimes they couldn’t helpanswer it. They are all “warm” inside, but cool outside. They also have a high sense of loyalty and obligation to their in-group but feel less obligated to help outsiders.
Sometimes students demand that groups can be divided two groups: Boy’s group and Girl’s group. Then the whole class has a match between boys and girls. Even though I ask a low-levelboy to read a new word, others in boy’s group will make no efforts to help him in slightly. If you give the task to a girl, boys would keep in calm and have no interest about it. Because that is none of their business. It reflects System rewards students’ academic performance. Students compete with each other in class. Students try to make themselves visible in Masculine Societies.
  2. Lead in .
Then I will use PPT to let students watch the moving picture of sun and rain. By giving students a clear question, which one is the sun, and which one is rain. It can lead to the title the rain and the sun. Mostly, I use the direct way to let students know today’s learning because students in primary school have a limit understanding. It belongs to Teacher-centered education when leading into title . It means that students expect teacher to initiate communication, to outline the paths to follow.Students speak up in class only when invited by the teacher. 3. About dealing with sentence: Snow is cold and white.
I use a game to let students to acquire it . First, I use a snow card to let students see, what colour is the snow? And how does it feel when touching snow. Students can answer the colour is white and it is cold. Then the phrase cold and white come and action with using the hands up and down.At last, I write the new sentence: Snow is cold and white. The most exciting movement is play a wooden men game. One student stands opposite in front of the classroom, others tend to be“ woodenmen.” When he turns back, students should be quite suddenly shut upsaying a sentence and doing actions. Who continus moving actions or say sentence will be punished and also their group lose one score. Thus game let all the students take part in. It is a small power distance in this game. Power is often shared and responsibilities are delegated as much as possible. In general, games in English class show that teachers should respect the independence of their students, Students may speak up spontaneously in class. Especially in English class, Younger teachers are more liked than older teachers, because younger teachers with creative ability have lots of newteaching games.
  Conclusion
English curriculum standards” that: The core of primary school English teaching is to stimulate the enthusiasm of students to learn English, which requires close contact with the contents of primary school teaching and learning practical life, and continuously enrich the lives of the factors which go into the classroom, and the gradual creation of a reproduction of life, the scene of the expression of life to create a communicative life into the teaching mode. To enable students to obtain treatment and use information, communicate with others in English, using English to solve practical problems. Attention should be paid tothe daily life of students, training students inthe ability to actually use the language.
With help of TPR method, I try to reach these level. On the other hands, there are also some shortcomings in this method. For me, I just need to adjust and make full use of these in my teaching.
