Eel is one of the major species in China’s fishing industry, but because of the shortage of traditional eel in Japan, it has endangered the development of China’s eel industry. Therefore, in recent years, a large number of European eel fry have been introduced all over the country for breeding. However, due to the different characteristics and geographical regions, aquaculture producers are mixed with each other and are very concerned about the development prospects of European eel in China. To this end, the author visited the deputy director of fish disease department of Freshwater Fisheries Research Center of Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, project leader and assistant researcher Xinghua of “Research on European eel farming technology and disease prevention and control”. Interview is now recorded as follows to readers. Q: Mr. Xing, many of our readers are very concerned about the European eel farming prospects in China, please talk about your views. A: The eel industry in China should have said that it has a certain basis, from the species, the Japanese eel has always been the main culture. It should be affirmed that the Japanese eel has some breeding advantages. However, in recent years, the resources of Japanese eel seedlings plummeted and the price of seedling soared, drastically changing the ratio of inputs and returns. Many practitioners turned their attention to the introduction and domestication of new species, and the European eels were taken seriously in such a reality. Although the initial understanding of the ecological habits, growth characteristics and disease resistance of European eels is not comprehensive, since the early 1990s, there have been trials and nurturing practices in some eel-eared areas in China and the water surface of farmed eel has been increasing year by year. A variety of ways, the performance can be described as mixed mixed half, it is worth mentioning here is that in November 1994 in Beijing
