Compaq Computer Corporation announced on April 18 that its board of directors will form the Chief Executive Office to oversee the day-to-day operations of Compaq’s departments and take immediate effect. The Chief Executive Office will consist of Chairman Benjamin M. Rosen and Vice Chairman Frank P. Doyle and Robert Ted Enloe III. Mr. Rosen will serve as Acting CEO and will be with Mr. Doyle and Mr. Enloe at the Houston headquarters to oversee the day-to-day management and operations of the company. Compaq is currently looking for a new chief executive to replace Echard Pfeiffer, who submitted his resignation on April 18. Rosen said: “Eckhard Pfeiffer’s work has brought the fastest-growing Compaq history, and all those who benefit from this development should be grateful to him.”
