原日本宁波同乡会理事长、东京中华学校理事长、《自由新闻》社社长、“龙冈亲义会日本分会”理事长、日本东京山王大饭店创办人张和祥、因患败血症,于1988年在日本东京病逝,终年80岁。张和祥系浙江省宁波市镇海区人,1909年生。张和祥幼年时,家庭十分贫困,只念过二二年书失学在家。到青年时期,他仍然没有找到正式职业,生活困苦,被当地群众称为“不争气的孩子”。30岁左右,与叶阿英结婚,婚后仍无正当职业,几年内反而将岳父家的一份财产吃光用光。在无可奈何的情况下,张和祥夫妇只得流落到上海当小摊贩,生活相当艰难。1945年,刚从日本返回上海的张和祥妹妹张杏素、妹夫周祥赓(和张和祥是同乡),在上海火车站偶尔碰到张和祥,言谈之下,知道张和祥在上海无法立足,于是决定把他带到日本去谋生。张和祥把妻子和一个女儿都暂留在上海,单身跟了妹夫、妹妹东渡日本。
