该项目由阿塞拜疆总统直管,目的是希望巴库这个快速发展的城市有一个标志性的建筑。我在这个项目上做的时间非常长,从2007年4月到2013年11月,在7年的伦敦-巴库往返出差中,确实看到了巴库的飞速变化,就好像北京从20世纪90年代跨入21世纪初的那十几年的惊人变化,日新月异。ZHA接这个项目的初心就是希望这个地标性建筑能有利于塑造他们的国家形象,成为国家名片。而且建成后确实也达到了这个效果,阿塞拜疆官方宣传旅游时,一定会说到这个建筑。
The project, run by the President of Azerbaijan, aims to hope that Baku, a fast-growing city, will have an iconic building. I spent a very long time on this project. From April 2007 to November 2013, during my 7-year London-Baku business trip, I really saw the rapid changes in Baku as if Beijing had been moving from the 90s of the 20th century The amazing changes that took place in the early 21st century at the beginning of the decade are changing with each passing day. The initial intention of ZHA to take this project is to hope that this landmark building can help shape their national image and become a national business card. And this effect has indeed been achieved after the completion of construction. Azerbaijan’s official propaganda and tourism will certainly speak of this building.
