陈鸿寿,字子恭,号曼生,钱塘(今浙江杭州)人。乾隆三十三年(一七六八)生,道光二年(一八二二)卒,年五十五岁。嘉庆六年(一八○一)拨贡,官至淮安同知,擅长诗、文、书、画、篆刻、制陶等,书法直接摩崖碑版,攻隶书、楷书、行书,为“西泠八家”之一。清秦祖永《桐阴论画》曰:“鸿寿(陈鸿寿)诗文书画皆以资胜,篆刻追秦汉,浙中人悉宗之,八分书尤简古超逸,
