Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a highly metastatic tumor whose invasion and metastasis is an extremely complex process involving multiple steps and multiple factors. Latent membrane protein 1 (LMP1) encoded by Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is found in most nasopharyngeal carcinoma cells and many of its signaling pathways are closely related to the invasion and metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. The study found that LMP1 induced a series of factors related to cell invasion and metastasis, including matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs), c-Met, Ets1, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), Ezrin , MUC1 and Twist, participate in the invasion and metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This article describes the recent progress in the study of the relationship between LMP1 and invasion and metastasis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.
