《电信与空间:新天地》是今年的5月17日第24届世界电信日的主题。这一天,“国际电信联盟”的各成员国都在以不同的形式宣传电信业务和有关知识。我借此机会,向广大读者介绍一下我国电信事业自改革开放以来得到高速发展和高新技术采用的情况,以及它们的发展前景。 建国以来,我国电信事业虽然取得了巨大的发展,但真正建立起一个四通八达的电信通信网还是近十几年的事。比如电话交换机到1978年拥有1749000门,比1950年增长了5.6倍。实际上当时全国电话总数比香港还少。据1991年统计,我国市内电话交换机总容量已达10400000门,比1978年增长了5.9倍,平均每年增长14.6％。又如,1978年我国长途电话线路为19000条,去年则已达到152000条,比1978年增长8.1倍,年均增长17.4％。去年一年,我国长途电话线路就增加了38000条。这一数字相当于1978年全国所有长话线路总数的两倍。 我国电信通信现状与发达国家相比,在数量上还有一段距离。1978年我国电话机普及率仅为0.4％。从1978年至1991年,尽管我国人口以每年1500万人的

Let me take this opportunity to brief our readers about the rapid development of the telecommunications industry in our country since the adoption of the reform and opening up and the adoption of high and new technologies, and their prospects for development. Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China, although China’s telecommunications industry has made tremendous progress, it has been a matter of more than a decade for a telecommunications network to be established in a real way.
