It was also the symbol of god - king of the ancient Chinese nation. This paper uses the three sets of shell diagram recovered from tomb M45 of Xishuipo, Puyang as an example to discuss the formation of the human and theocratic character of god-king. It concludes that the god-king character was attributable to the calendar keeping and annual rituals in connecti0n to ancient aghcultural activities.
