The authors prospectively studied the significance of pleural fluid C-reactive protein (CRP) in distinguishing between leakage and exudate, and in identifying inflammatory pleural effusion and other etiological pleural effusions. Methods 97 cases of pleural effusion, 69 males and 28 females. Fasting blood samples and pleural effusion specimens. Pleural fluid samples 200g centrifuge 10min to remove blood and other substances.
