深层是相对于表面而言的。书稿中的深层问题相对来说是一些较难以判断、比较隐蔽的问题。发现和处理这些问题不仅需要精益求精的精神,而且需要丰富的知识和经验。否则对书稿的加工只能止于表面,作些技术上的处理。但是要提高审编书稿的质量,某种程度上往往取决于对书稿中深层问题的发现和解决。以下举几个例子谈谈自己在这方面的一些体会。 我在编辑加工由英文译成中文的《中级数学辞典》时,其中在“弃九法”这个条目中,译稿为:“9357弃九的余数为6,因为9+3+5+7=24,而24除以9的余数为6。”对照原文,这段译文翻译准确,该没问题了吧!哪里知道,这里原文本身内容就表达错了,当然译文意思也就随着错了。因为“弃九法”乃我国古代数学家秦九韶所创。笔者早年在大学选修李俨先生的中国数学史课时,即有所知。“弃九法”的本质乃“弃九”,而在前面译文和原文的表述中恰恰没有“弃九”。实际上,这段正确的表述应为“9357的弃九余数为6,因为3+5+7=15,而15除以9的余数为6。”译者可能只顾着照本译来,疏于辨别正误。由此可见,编辑加工译稿,不仅要注意译稿的信、
Deep is relative to the surface. The deeper issues in manuscripts are relatively more difficult to judge and more subtle issues. Discovering and dealing with these issues requires not only the spirit of excellence but also a wealth of knowledge and experience. Otherwise, the processing of the manuscript only ends with the surface for some technical processing. However, to improve the quality of the manuscripts to be edited is to some extent often determined by the discovery and resolution of deep-seated problems in manuscripts. Here are some examples to talk about some of their own experience in this area. When I was editing and processing “Dictionary of Intermediate Mathematics” from English to Chinese, in the article “Abandon the Nine Methods,” the translation was: “The remainder of 9357 was nine because 9 + 3 + 5 + 7 = 24, while the remainder of 24 divided by 9 is 6. ”Contrast with the original text, this translation is accurate, there is no problem! Where do you know, here the original text itself is wrong, of course, the meaning of the translation also goes wrong. Because “Abandonment nine” is an ancient Chinese mathematician created by Qin Jiushao. I learned early in the university elective Li Yan Chinese mathematics history class, that is to know. The essence of “abandoning the nine laws” is “abandoning the ninth,” and there is exactly no “renunciation of nine” in the previous translation and the original formulation.
