Chang’an River, located in the northeastern border of Hunan Province, is known as “Xiangbei Gateway” and is a major river in Linxiang City with a total length of 56 kilometers. The central part runs through the downtown area and flows into the Yangtze River via Huanggai Lake. Linxiang children are affectionately called “Mother River.” Due to the development of industry in cities and the weakness of people’s environmental awareness, industrial wastewater and domestic sewage caused serious pollution to the middle and lower reaches of Chang’an River.
