长安河地处湖南东北边陲,素有“湘北门户”之称的,是临湘市境内的一条主河流,全长56公里,中部从市中心穿过,经黄盖湖注入长江。被临湘儿女亲切地称之为“母亲河”。由于城区工业的发展和人们环境意识的淡薄,工业废水和生活污水对长安河中下游造成了严重污染,加之城区河段狭窄,堤坝低矮,水灾濒繁,极大地制约了临湘经济的发展,影响了沿岸人民的日常生活和城市形象,而且加剧了对黄盖湖和长江的污
Chang’an River, located in the northeastern border of Hunan Province, is known as “Xiangbei Gateway” and is a major river in Linxiang City with a total length of 56 kilometers. The central part runs through the downtown area and flows into the Yangtze River via Huanggai Lake. Linxiang children are affectionately called “Mother River.” Due to the development of industry in cities and the weakness of people’s environmental awareness, industrial wastewater and domestic sewage caused serious pollution to the middle and lower reaches of Chang’an River. Coupled with the narrow urban areas, low embankments and floods, it greatly restricted the economic development of Linxiang. Affected the daily life of the people along the coast and the city’s image, but also aggravated the pollution of the Yellow Gully and the Yangtze River
