当代中国雕塑艺坛中,一直活跃着这么一群人——他们根植于中华民族文化的源头,耕耘在13个王朝建都之地,以独具的慧眼、出众的才情、丰厚的素养、灵巧的双手,在黄天厚土的丰饶大地上吼出了字正腔圆的一曲曲艺术秦腔。他们,就是古城西安的雕塑家们。一方面积极汲取源自于周、秦、汉、唐深厚的传统文化积淀和鲜明的地域时代特征,另一方面努力实践现代雕塑艺术的思维观念和表现手法,从而逐渐形成了具有个性的艺术风格——现代中国雕塑艺术的“西部风格”。
