讨论现代性问题,一方面,我们必须最大限度地澄明关于现代性的“问题语境”;另一方面,我们必须尽可能避免达成某种语境主义的规则共识,这就是现代性的吊诡。现代性不是魔戒,正如民族文化不是圣经。现代性在中国的绵延约略分为三个阶段:思想的现代性、市民社会的现代性和富裕社会的现代性。中国现代化的“社会动员”过程和前景,更多是在文化意义即“文化现代化”层面展开和定位的,因而现代性是中国“文化现代化”最基本的理论理性之命题。

The process and the prospect of “social mobilization” in China’s modernization are more and more developed and oriented at the cultural meaning of “cultural modernization.” Therefore, modernity is the most basic theoretical rationality of “cultural modernization” in China .
