董其昌的艺术思想继承发展了宋代欧阳修,苏轼等文人理论的精髓,代表着进入了明代的文人画思潮,他的南北宗论就是在文人的审美观的基础上创立的。南北宗论是中国画史上第一次提出的关于山水画派的理论。中国绘画发展到文人画时期,围绕着笔墨语言的不断发展,画家都经历了由笔法向笔墨语言转变的过程。以董其昌为代表,他的绘画实践主要是围绕“笔墨”进行的,力图寻找到文人画的精神品质与笔墨神韵之间的关系。
Dong Qichang’s artistic thought inherited and developed the essence of the literati theory such as Ouyang Xiu and Su Shi in the Song Dynasty, and represented the literati painting trend that entered the Ming Dynasty. His Southern and Northern Sectarians were founded on the basis of the aesthetics of the scholars. Northern and Southern Sect theory is the first theory in Chinese history about landscape school.
