Gen-Probe 公司是一个基因诊断测试开发商,他们原有的网络使用的是终端服务器、序列连接及各种不同的通信协议。最近他们对网络需求和解决方案也进行了一次全面的诊断,诊断结果是他们的网络需要 ATM 技术的支持,以获得更优异的性能。开出的处方是采用 FORE 公司的解决方案和网络产品建立新的网络。新网络使应用固定在中心服务器上,支持基于VMS 的制造系统及库存管理、研究及开发、质保、资金管理等功能,提供传真、RAS、基于局域网的拨号、T-1 Internet 连接、Intranet 服务器、TCP/IP 打印、POP3邮箱、Oracle 及 SQL 服务器应用
Gen-Probe, a developer of genetic diagnostic tests, uses legacy servers with terminal servers, serial connections, and a variety of different communication protocols. Recently, they also conducted a comprehensive diagnosis of network requirements and solutions. The result of their diagnosis is that their network needs the support of ATM technology for better performance. The prescription is to use FORE’s solutions and network products to establish a new network. The new network enables applications to be fixed on a central server, supports VMS-based manufacturing systems and inventory management, research and development, warranty and capital management functions, provides faxing, RAS, LAN-based dialing, T-1 Internet connectivity, TCP / IP Printing, POP3 Mailbox, Oracle and SQL Server Applications
