Beck and Barrell reported a gene similar to HCMV that encodes a class I major histocompatability (MHC) molecule in vertebrates. HCMV is a Herpesvirus family that causes widespread subclinical infection in humans. In immunosuppressed patients (such as organ transplant or AIDS patients) cause serious illness and even death. Because of the production of viral antigens and the identification of infected cells by cytotoxic T cells, the body’s class I histocompatibility molecules are required. Thus, the function of the class I genes of the virus is of interest. In higher eukaryotes, class I genes encode two cell surface glycoproteins: one is a pleomorphic cell surface glycoprotein that is a “self” immune marker that is expressed in almost all cells ( Human HLA-A, B, C
