桃源县芭茅洲大理石有“桃花石”和“墨玉”两种,分别赋存于奥陶系下统桃花石组和盘家咀组上段内,为浅海沉积型缓—中等倾斜层状矿床。矿区西部以“桃花石”为主,可分“紫玫瑰”、“春桃红”、和“夏荷绿”三个品种,为厚、巨厚层状生物屑泥晶灰岩;东部以“墨玉”为主,为黑色厚—巨厚层状含云质(化)泥质灰岩。矿层稳定,出荒率及成材率较高,具较好的装饰性和物理力学性质。
There are two kinds of “Peach Blossom Stone” and “Moyu” marble in Taoyuan County, which are respectively deposited in the lower Ordovician Taohuazhu Formation and the upper part of Panjiaju Formation. They are shallow-water sedimentary slow-moderately inclined bedded deposits . The western part of the mining area is dominated by “peach blossom stone”, which can be divided into three types: “Purple Rose”, “Spring Peach Red” and “Xiahe Green” Jade "mainly black thick - thick layer of cloud-like texture of the dolomitic limestone. Stable ore layer, the rate of waste and the finished product rate is higher, with good decorative and physical and mechanical properties.
