OBJECTIVE: To investigate whether low-intensity ultrasound can promote the binding of bone around the mandible after radiation-injured canine mandibular implantation. Methods: Animal models of mandibular radiological damage were established and treated with low intensity ultrasound. Micro-CT and pull-out experiments were performed to observe the effects of low-intensity ultrasound treatment (group Ⅱ) and low-intensity ultrasound treatment group Experimental group Ⅰ), and compared with the control group, the data were statistically analyzed. Results: The animal model of radiation injury was successfully established. The trabecular bone in experimental group Ⅱ was better than that of experimental group Ⅰ. The pull-out test showed that the pull-out strength of experimental group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that of experimental group Ⅰ. Statistical results show that the differences between groups have significant significance (P <0.05). Conclusions: Low-intensity ultrasound has better repair effect on the bone tissue around the implant after radiation
