１９８５年 ２月，７个青年知识分子创办的“沈阳市工业技术开发公司”（东宇企业前身）挂靠在沈河区大西街道办事处。企业宗旨：以人为本，服务社会 １９９０年１０月，东宇企业又挂靠到东北国际投资有限公司，进入“收束型多元化”经营阶段，涉足领域有计算机、电子、电气、生物工程、机械加工、空调工程、商业贸易、证券经营、房产开发等。 １９９２年，东宇企业集团成立。 １９９５年 ６月 ３日， 庄宇洋经过公证并声明， 放弃了按国家法律规定属于自己的“东宇集团现有的全部净资产１.７９亿元”，东宇企业转制为由部分员工持股的有限公司。 ２０００年 １２月，东宇企业转制为股份有限公司。 ２００１年 １２月， 东宇企业进行“调整改革”，确定药业、环保、房地产等６个主导产业。
