On November 6, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said in his State of the Union address that he plans to deploy the “Iskander” missile system in Kaliningrad to respond to the U.S. deployment of the ABM system in Europe. His remark immediately aroused strong shocks from the United States and European countries and criticized his remarks one after another. The collective indignation of Western nations, in their own words, is due to the “confrontation” color of Mays speech, but the protagonist of this incident, the “Iskander” missile system, is also noteworthy. Allegedly, this tactical missile with a maximum range of no more than 500 kilometers is staggering and can break the advanced defensive system in the world including the United States, the Patriot, Israel and Arrow. Understand its excellent technical performance after the war, it is not hard to understand why the Western countries have its dread.
