Based on the corpus data, this study compares the vocabulary collocations of Chinese EFL learners in spoken and written language. The results show that despite the large number of collocations and their similarities in spoken and written language, learners make more mistakes in writing than in oral English, which makes it more difficult for learners to make correct collocations in written language Speaking. The main reason for this phenomenon is the difference of the nature of spoken and written English, as well as the environmental differences of learners when carrying out oral and writing tasks. In view of this, in order to enhance learners’ collocation ability, this study suggests to adopt the “five steps” approach to integrate collocation knowledge into vocabulary teaching.
