1946年的2月间,我们在吉林海龙县与《东北日报》的同志会合后,我记得没过几天,长途跋涉的疲劳还没有完全恢复过来,当时《东北日报》的负责人李常青、廖井丹就把我找去,告诉我现在有个紧急任务,要派我赶快去访问周保中同志。中央的意见,要请他对当前东北的形势发表谈话,说明抗日联军在东北坚持抗战14年,而国民党未出一兵一卒,现在根本无权接收东北。接着,又叫我赶到梅河口去见东北局宣传部长凯丰。凯丰同志说:“这个任务很重要,我们派一个班的战士护送,还有一个作家魏东明与你同去,到什么地方以及介绍信等,都交待给他了,明天一早就动身。”

The Central Government’s opinion requires him to make a statement on the current situation in northeast China, stating that the anti-Japanese coalition forces persisted in fighting the Japanese aggression in the northeast for 14 years, while the Kuomintang did not have a single soldier and now has no right to receive the northeast. Then, also called me to Meihekou to see northeast Bureau propaganda minister Kaifeng. Comrade Kaifeng said: “This task is very important. We sent a class of soldiers to escort. There was a writer Wei Dongming going with you, wherever he went, and a letter of introduction. All of us confessed to him and left early tomorrow.”
