我国现有5052万名共产党员,大约每15个成年人中就有一个是党员。党员队伍的素质如何,党员能否在新的历史时期中起模范带头作用,直接关系到改革开放宏伟事业的成败。事实证明,绝大多数共产党员无愧于自己的光荣称号。他们牢记全心全意为人民服务的宗旨,吃苦在前,享受在后,严格律己,廉洁奉公,以自己的模范行动提高了党在人民群众中的威信,增强了党的吸引力和凝聚力。有两个数字最能说明问题:全国各条战线受表彰的先进模范人物中,党员占70％以上;去年,全国向党组织提出入党申请的人,比1989年增加了258万人。在纪念中国共产党成立70周年之际,本刊特选发一组模范共产党员的事迹。在他们身上,充分表现出共产党人的奉献精神和高风亮节,他们以及象他们一样兢兢业业为人民的模范党员,是中国共产党的光荣和骄傲!
There are now 50.52 million Communists in our country, and about one out of every 15 adults is a party member. Whether or not the party members are qualified and whether party members can play a leading role in the new historical period is directly related to the success or failure of the grand cause of reform and opening up. Facts have proved that the vast majority of party members deserve their own glorious title. They bear in mind the purpose of serving the people wholeheartedly. They worked hard before them and enjoyed themselves with strict self-discipline and honesty. By their exemplary actions, they have enhanced the party’s prestige among the people and enhanced its attractiveness and cohesion. There are two figures that best illustrate the problem: Among the advanced model individuals honored on all fronts in the country, more than 70% of the party members are party members. Last year, as many as 2.58 million people applied for party membership in the country as a whole. In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party, this issue selected a series of exemplary deeds of Communist Party members. On them, they fully demonstrate the dedication and high ethos of the Communists. They and the exemplary members who are conscientious and do their jobs as their people are the honor and pride of the Chinese Communist Party.
