生产资料所有制的演变是渐进的，从私到公，必然要经历一个公私兼备的混合所有制形式阶段，而不能一下子就建立完全的公有制。经典作家关于社会主义所有制的有关论述，为此提供了理论依据；而传统公有制在理论与实践中存在的诸多问题，则是迫使人们寻找一种亦公亦私的所有制实现形式的现实原因。在今天，股份制是从私有向公有发展的一个可供选择的较好的形式。
The evolution of the ownership of the means of production is gradual. From private to public, it is bound to go through a phase of mixed ownership that is both private and public, not a complete public ownership. The classic discourse on socialist ownership by the classical writers provides the theoretical basis for this. The problems existing in the theory and practice of traditional public ownership are the realistic reasons for forcing people to find a form of ownership that is also public and private. Today, the shareholding system is a better alternative from private ownership to public ownership.
