Micrometer with an outer diameter dial gauge to adjust the zero, it is usually the inner diameter dial gauge probe inserted in the outer diameter micrometer anvil and the amount between the rod, pinch the inner diameter dial gauge probe and micrometer The amount of rod, shake the micrometer to read the dial pointer deflection scale value, then dial dial to the zero tick line. Adjusting the zero position in this way often causes the tip of the ID micrometer to slip off the measurement surface of the micrometer bar. Sometimes a bad tune, but also repeated several times. Especially when using a large micrometer to adjust the zero position easier to slip. In order to solve the inner diameter gauge probe slippage problem, put a detachable (self-made) copper sleeve 3 on the top of the micrometer rod (or measuring anvil) and use it as an auxiliary tool, as shown in the figure. The copper sleeve loaded on the rod should be about 0.5mm beyond the rod’s measuring surface.
