Families called social cells are of great importance for people to understand and study the society. For a long time, researchers have also watched, touched and even dissected a society through families. Through this daily, microscopic and subtle pulse of the cell, researchers have discovered and grasped the trend of the whole society. What is the relationship between family structure, intergenerational relations and changes, what are the implications for the macro-social structure and its changes? What is the relationship between family structure and social changes? How does it adapt to macro-social changes? Or interaction? How is its own change affected, or is affected by the macro-social structure? In recent years, Huazhong University of Science and Technology China Rural Governance Research Center in the country more than 20 provinces and regions in rural areas conducted a long-term in-depth investigation . The magazine invited researchers from Huazhong University of Science and Technology China Rural Governance Research Center to discuss the issue of “rural family intergenerational relations.” These five short and concise essays are the portrayal and analysis of the present state of rural society on the basis of in-depth field investigations. They mainly focus on the changes of inter-generational relations within the family, the problems that have arisen and the influences they make. They also analyze the complex relationship between the changes in intergenerational relations and their modes in the family and the changes in the social structure as a whole. This paper emphatically analyzes why the internal structure and relations of rural families are undergoing fundamental changes.
