珙桐(Davidia involucrata Baill.)是世界驰名的观赏树种,花絮奇特美丽,形如飞鸽,亦称鸽子树(Pove-Tree)。1982年5月,曾在我省镇坪县八坪山林场蛇家湾发现珙桐27株。现又在该场海拔1200～1800米的地域内,发现分布有1500余株,并有2亩大的一片纯林,胸径一般为14～20厘米,高约14米。其中不仅有变种一光叶珙桐(Davidia involucrata var.vilmorinianaHemsl.),还有原种珙桐,它对研究古植物学和地理学等有关学科,有着重要的价值和作用。为给珙桐的引种、驯化、繁殖工作创造条件,以促进这一珍稀、临危树种的发展,我们于1982～1983年,先后三次去镇坪县重点珙桐产地,分别在不同坡向、坡度、海拔的不同类型的珙桐林分中,设置了固定样地,对珙桐各年龄阶段的测树因子的生长规
