榆紫金花虫属鞘翅目,叶(虫甲)科,在内蒙古自治区昭盟、哲盟、兴安盟等地经常发生。主要危害家榆、黄榆和春榆。1976——1979年在昭盟红山林场大发生。在直径5—7Cm,高2—3m的树上,每株虫口达千头之多,使七万多亩中幼林受到严重危害。由于此虫食性专一、为害期长,每年从四月上旬到十月中旬新老成虫及幼虫交替为害,将叶片全部吃光,致使树木枯梢长势衰弱,并导致蛀干害虫的侵入而使树木死亡。
