美国西部水电集团研究了一种能把“最好的传统设计的效率提高1%~3%”的位流水轮机。在结构上,位流水轮机与传统的水轮机差别很小,它与混流式或转浆式水轮机相似。位流水轮机装在传统的水轮机壳内,但位流水轮机上装有能向转轮进口提供有势水流的导叶,使转轮进口全断面的速度矩相等。从而有效地消除尾水管中的涡流,减小水轮机的空化系数σ,提高水电站运行效益。
The Western Hydro Corporation studied a bit-stream turbine that would “improve the efficiency of the best traditional designs by 1% to 3%.” Structurally, bit-stream turbines differ little from conventional turbines in that they are similar to Francis or Slurry turbines. The bit-flow turbine is installed in the traditional turbine casing, but the bit-flow turbine is equipped with guide vanes capable of providing a potential water flow to the runner’s inlet so as to equalize the speed of the entire section of the rotor inlet. Therefore, the eddy current in the draft tube can be effectively eliminated, the cavitation coefficient σ of the turbine can be reduced, and the operating efficiency of the hydropower station can be improved.
