写下这个题目,心里有点儿嘀咕。要是抠起字眼儿来,毛病可是不少:什么建筑的思想艺术作用啦,历史文化作用啦,心理精神作用啦,岂不是更正宗的人道主义话题。但是,我从来不想写包罗万象的理论文章,只不过喜欢拾遗补阙,专敲没有人敲的锣——甚至是别人厌弃了的锣。促使我写下这个题目的,是刚刚读到的一篇文章,那里又一次批判“功能主义”反人道、没有人性、败坏人情味,等等。这当然是眼下最流行的理论,“众所周知”。但是,究竟什么是“功能主义”呢?它无非主张建筑的头等重要任务是满足各种功能要求,建筑物首先要在功能上完善,然后才谈得上其他。那么,什么是功能呢?又无非是人的生活、劳动、学习等等的实际需要,其中包括方便各种现代化设施的使
Writing this topic was a bit embarrassing. If you look at the words, there are many problems: what is the role of the arts in the architecture, the role of history and culture, and the role of the mind and spirit? Is it not a more authentic humanitarian issue? However, I never wanted to write all-embracing theoretical articles. I just liked to make up for it, and knocked on the flaws that no one knocked on—even those that others rejected. What motivated me to write down this topic is an article I just read, where once again criticized “functionalism” against humanity, lack of humanity, corrupting human touch, and so on. This is of course the most popular theory right now, “well-known.” However, what exactly is “functionalism”? It is nothing more than advocating that the primary task of architecture is to meet various functional requirements. Buildings must first be functionally perfect before they can talk about others. So, what is a function? It is nothing more than the actual needs of human life, labor, learning, etc., which include the convenience of various modern facilities.
