Objective: To investigate the clinical significance of plasma procalcitonin (PCT) level in evaluating the prognosis of critically ill patients. Methods: The plasma PCT levels of 331 critically ill patients admitted to the ICU between December 2011 and May 2012 were determined, and the clinical significance of their prognosis in assessing ICU into 28 days was analyzed. Results: The level of PCT in 28-day survival ICU was significantly lower in ICU than that in death group (P <0.05). Logistic regression analysis showed that PCT> 0.495 ng / ml could be used as a predictor of survival at 28 days (OR 2.07, 95% CI 1.17 ~ 3.68). CONCLUSION: PCT> 0.495 ng / ml into the ICU can be used as a predictor of short-term survival in critically ill patients.
