Scientists from Germany published a new research report in the international academic journal Nature Communication. They found that the specific immune response activated by parasitic infection can help treat rheumatoid arthritis in mice. This study also has some implications for the treatment of human rheumatoid arthritis. Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that affects the joints. Both the Th1 and Th17 immune responses associated with rheumatoid arthritis themselves have the effect of fighting bacteria and viruses, but in patients with rheumatoid arthritis they attack the patient’s cartilage, causing tissue damage, inflammation and pain. How to block immune cells attacking themselves in rheumatoid arthritis diseases
