在进行大豆杂交育种时,往往每年要配制大量杂交组合。但育种的经验证明,后期育成的优良品系,大都出至少数优良组合。因此,如果在杂交的早期世代,能大体判别出此等少数优良组合,扩大此等群体,并集中力量对此等少数优良组合进行选择,不但可以摆脱由于杂交组合繁多,因而加大工作量的沉重负担,而且更能因优良组合群体的扩大,而使选得优良材料的机率大大增加。
