国际档案理事会按照四年举行一次国际档案大会的惯例,要在1996年召开第十三届国际档案大会.我国国家档案局经国务院批准,1988年向国际档案理事会执行委员会提出由我国在北京主办这次大会的申请,获得执委会一致通过.国际档案理本会自1950年成立以来,前12届国际档案大会都在欧洲、美洲召开,第十三届国际档案大会是在亚洲举办的首次国际档案盛会.我国主办这届大会获得国际档案理本会执委会通过的消息传出后,得到国际档案界、特别是第三世界、以及周边国家的热烈欢迎,更得到我国各级档案部门和广大档案工作者的拥护和支持.虽然1989年经历了一点曲折,但按照国际档案理事会的章程和我国的据理力争,这一决定没作任何变动.
In accordance with the practice of the International Archives Congress held in four years, the International Archives Council will hold the 13th International Archives Congress in 1996.
