Based on the autobiography of the first translation of the Chinese-American chef Huang Yi Ming, this paper mainly discusses the possibility of style translation and how to achieve the correspondence of the original style in the target language. In the two chapters selected for this translation, chapters XIII and XVI, the author turned from an obstructionist law school student to a boss who owned a Chinese restaurant in New York by overcoming the difficulties. In the original text, due to the identity of the second generation of Chinese immigrants, especially in the two chapters of translation, there are a large number of formal marks showing the author’s writing style, which represents the author’s colloquialism and clear writing style. The style mark is the symbolic system of the author’s language style. Style tags include formal and non-formal tags. By analyzing these marks in the two chapters of translating, including the word mark, register mark, syntactic mark and rhetorical mark, and using the translation-based translation technique, the translator finds the corresponding mark in the target language. Accordingly, the translator believes that in order to achieve the translation standard of style translation, the free translation method can reproduce the style of the original text more effectively.
