The Level of Integration Many anthropologists, formerly engaged in the study of tribal societies, are now working on the contemporary complex social and cultural systems such as China, Russia, India or the United States. Not surprisingly, they moved the work that had been done to study the design of the tribal society to carry out this new job. While these methods are undoubtedly valuable in many cases, they are not sufficient to dissect all the phenomena encountered in the study of modern peoples or in the acculturation of indigenous peoples under the influence of modern peoples. There is a tendency to borrow concepts and methods from the social sciences and other disciplines that have been engaged in the research of modern society for so long that such a practice could lead to a new multidisciplinary approach that is a very healthy scientific advance.
