Tropical cyclones (TCs) and El Ni(n)o-Southe Oscillation (ENSO) are both high-impact phenomena,and their interaction is a subject of great scientific interest and practical importance.It is now widely accepted that TC activities are strongly modulated by ENSO on interannual timescales.For example,the weste-Pacific TCs tend to be stronger,occur more eastward and equatorward,and live longer in El Ni(n)o years than in La Ni(n)a years [1].On the other hand,it was suggested that the weste-Pacific TCs could lead to more El Ni(n)o occurrences by extending the weste-Pacific warm pool eastward [2,3].However,due to diversified El Nifo behaviors [4],the mechanisms of TC-ENSO interaction are hard to decipher.A series of recent studies shed some new light on the interplay of the weste-Pacific TC with El Ni(n)o diversity.
