首届世界女足锦标赛第3、4名决赛中,有一个现象引起世人极大的兴趣,那就是场上3名执法官都是女性。这在国际足坛可谓破天荒头一遭,具有历史性的意义自不待言。更令国人感到高兴的是,司第一巡边员之职的是位中国女士,左秀娣的名字很快便在赛场传开,并通过电视而走进千家万户。左秀娣能执法首届足球世锦赛,虽然说是借了中国主办之光,然而她个人的努力亦不可没。
