5’-NPD isozymes were isolated using polyacrylamide gradientgel electrophoresis. The apparent molecular weights of the isozymeswere estimated to be 340000, 220000, 190000, 170000 and150000 for isczyme-Ⅰ, Ⅱ, Ⅲ, Ⅳand Ⅴ, respectively. All theisozymes exhibited three common subunits on SDS-gel electropho-resis under fully reducing conditions. The apparent molecularweights of the subunits were 82000, 70000 and 42000, respec-tively. The peptide patterns produced by partial β-chymotrypsindigestion of the isozymes showed striking similarities betweenthem. Five common peptides were generated, they were Mr82000, 70000, 56000, 42000 and 36000, respectively. Inaddition, some 3-5 new isozyme bands were found in the regionof isozyme-Ⅰ.
