旌表孝义是体现古代中国基本伦理和核心价值的政治举措,有着深厚的社会基础和广泛的影响。现今已愈显稀罕、甚至需要售票游览的一座座古孝义牌坊,其中蕴含的历史内涵正在迅速流失之中,残存的也要比这些木石架构更加破落潦倒。不过在一种秩序走向衰微,而另一种秩序又总是一潮一潮翻卷而来的世变之中,维系以往秩序的各种机制,特别是礼制对人们行为的规范作用,其不断法律化和社会化的进程,及其曾对无论高贵还是卑贱者生活和行为的共同约束或升华,大抵都会被朝野上下重新挖掘、重新澄清、重新强调;与之相伴的,则必是各种堪称伪滥的复古举措、复古兴造、复古讲礼行径,令人在似乎看见道德和信仰的曙光时,又不免倍感沮丧而喟然长叹世风之日下。
