常见的前列腺疾病有前列腺炎、前列腺增生症、前列腺癌和前列腺结石等。随着年龄的增长,前列腺增生症和前列腺癌的发病率也随着增加,据报导前者发病率可高达75％,后者的发病率为14—4％。后者的发病率在欧美相当高,占男性恶性肿瘤发病率的17％,居美国男性恶性肿瘤的第二位。美国50岁以上男性一般尸检中前列腺癌的发病率为12—46％。年龄愈大,发病率愈高,80岁以上男性尸检中2/3有前列腺癌。
