作为一位将终生奉献给信仰的基督徒,约翰·亨利·纽曼所走的是一条内在的向圣之路。他出身于新教家庭,其宗教思想与信仰方式也经历了一个从低派到高派、从福音派向启示信仰转变的过程。纽曼宗教思想的天主教倾向在牛津运动中得到集中表达,同时,他也在此期间承受了来自安立甘教会方面的巨大压力,内在的信仰与外在的压力,共同促成了纽曼1845年的改宗。改宗后的纽曼为天主教在英格兰乃至当今世界的发展做出了重要贡献,他被追封为圣徒的程序自1991年即已启动,正有待完成。
As a Christian who will devote his life to faith, John Henry Newman follows an inner path of holiness. He came from a Protestant family. His religious thoughts and methods of belief have also undergone a process of transition from a low school to a high school and from evangelical school to enlightenment school. Catholicism in Newman’s religious thought was concentrated in the Oxford movement. During the same period, he also underwent tremendous pressure from the Anglican church. His internal beliefs and external pressure contributed to Newman’s reformation in 1845. The revised Newman made an important contribution to the development of the Catholic Church in England and even in the present-day world. The procedure of being seized as a saint has started since 1991 and is yet to be completed.
